Best Amazon Prime Day Deals FAQ And Tips
When Is Amazon Prime Day 2024?
While its name would have you believe Amazon Prime Day takes place across just 24 hours, past events see the sale period usually straddle two days in mid-July, so we expect much the same this year. While the official date has yet to be revealed, we do know it'll be in July and would predict it'll fall on July 9-10.
Of course, when more news is shared about when Amazon Prime Day 2024 will fall, we'll update this page to reflect that.
What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is an (increasingly) bi-annual two-day sale event exclusively for those with a Prime membership. Amazon's huge catalog of products feature in the sale, and it's been known to throw some of the best Amazon Prime Day deals for entertainment fans in the past. This includes Blu-rays and DVDs, discounts on streaming services, merchandise and collectibles, as well as the usual suspects like TVs, Fire Sticks, Kindles, and more.
Do I Have To Be An Amazon Prime Member To Receive Discounts?
The short answer: Yes. But not to worry. Amazon Prime offers exclusive discounts on thousands of items and you've got plenty of time to sign up for a free 30 day trial to gain access to benefits like 2-Day Shipping, Exclusive Member Deals, Prime Video and channel add-ons, Amazon Music, and more.
What Kind Of Deals Can I Expect During Amazon Prime Day 2024?
During the two-day event, Amazon Prime Day has always offered subscribers access to thousands upon thousands of exclusive deals.
Although the full slate of Amazon Prime Day deals won't be revealed until the event itself starts, expect a wide range of special discounts on everything from TVs (with built-in Fire TV) to various Amazon devices, streaming deals, and more, with up to 60% off of Amazon devices, and that all-important same-day delivery.
Last summer's sale we saw some great streaming deals, allowing subscribers to upgrade their library from the usual Prime Video offering. Through its Amazon Channel offers, you could save on big streaming giants like Max and Paramount Plus with 50% savings on your first two months. There were similar offers on other add-ons, including Britbox, AMC Plus, and STARZ, as well as opportunities to save while bundling multiple services together to get the ultimate TV and movie fix.
Beyond VOD, it's worth keeping in mind Amazon has a host of other great services, including Audible, Kindle Unlimited, and Amazon Music. More often than not there are Prime Day deals on these services, and we'd expect to see extended free trial periods and discounted rates duringOctober's Prime Big Deals Day, too.
Of course, it's not all about subscriptions. Amazon, of course, has a host of its own hardware that will be of interest to entertainment fans. That includes big price cuts on its Fire Stick range, as well as its Echo smart speakers, and more.
Alongside Amazon's own brand products, Amazon Prime Day deals often include great opportunities to save on Lego, DVDs and Blu-Rays, and other movie merchandise. It also is a great time to upgrade your TV set-up so you can marathon movies in 4K. We'll be leaning on the expertise of our sister site TechRadar to bring you the best deals and advice on what Prime Day deals around TVs, soundbars, projectors, and more are worth dropping cash on during Amazon Prime Day 2024.
What are some tips for shopping Amazon Prime Day 2023?
1. Sign up for an Amazon Prime Free trial
While Amazon Prime Day sales are geared toward current subscribers, it's not too late to sign up for a 30-day free trial to take advantage of the discounts. You can learn what all comes with your Amazon Subscription here.
2. Set up Watch-a-Deal notifications
The Amazon mobile app has a great feature that allows users to be notified when specific items go on sale. In the app, it's as simple as going to Settings > Programs and Features > Deals > Upcoming and then selecting the deals you're interested in. Find the "Watch This Deal" button and then you'll be notified when the item goes on sale. You can download the app for free on iOs and Android.
3. Check Amazon's Top 100 list
While launching their first Fall sales event in 2022, Amazon introduced a Top 100 List, which is a curated section of the retailer’s best-selling products that will be updated throughout the 2-day event and help take the hassle out of your online shopping.
4. Utilize the "Today's Deals" list
Although not a feature unique to this sales event, Amazon also has a section dedicated to deals of the day that you can explore 365 days of the year.
5. Check other sites' sales
Amazon may have great deals, but they are not the only retailers out there who are ready with their own fall sales. Walmart, Target, Macy's, and more are also launching sales to compete with Amazon, so be sure to shop around to get the right gift at the best price.
6. Start shopping early
Not all of Amazon's deals on Prime Day will be lightning deals, but with the event starting at 12 a.m. PT, we recommend starting your shopping as early as you can to secure the gifts and products you want before it's too late.
